TACTICS Delegates Participate in 18th A-WILL

Representatives from The Ateneo Consortium of Technological, Information, and Computing Sciences (TACTICS) attended the 18th Ateneo Workshop on Ignatian Leadership for Life (A-WILL), held on July 1-4, 2026, at the Arrupe Convention Hall, Ateneo de Naga University. The delegates included Christian Dane R. Naz (President), Raphael Julius Q. Sibulo (Treasurer), Arwynna Princess C. Salvino (2nd Year Representative). The workshop brought together student leaders from various organizations and institutions to engage in meaningful discussions on leadership, personal growth, and community service through sessions led by distinguished speakers from different professional fields.

On the first day of the workshop, participants were assigned to different teams, allowing them to collaborate with student leaders from various institutions throughout the four-day program. The day began with Dr. Leciel D. Ramos' Team Building Challenge Course, where she emphasized that leadership begins with listening and building meaningful connections. As part of the session, participants took part in a station activity that challenged teams to solve riddles about the buildings and history of Ateneo de Naga University, including clues related to Pedro Arrupe, SJ. The activity encouraged teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, helping participants build their first connections with their teammates and break the initial awkwardness among members from different groups.
Afterwards, Dr. Janet B. Badong-Badilla highlighted the importance of respecting differences and recognizing the dignity and uniqueness of every person. Paul John C. Legaspi encouraged participants to look beyond titles and positions, reminding them that true leadership is rooted in self-awareness and understanding one's strengths and capabilities.
The workshop continued on its second day with two sessions by Ralph Jacinto A. Quiblat, Associate Dean of the Ateneo School of Government of Ateneo de Manila University, titled "See Thee More Clearly, Love Thee More Dearly, Follow Thee More Nearly: Rediscovering My Leadership Calling, Its Concepts and Perspectives" and "Going Where God Draws Me: Learning Leadership Styles and Situational Leadership." Through these discussions, participants were encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones, embrace personal growth, and understand that true accountability is reflected not only in admitting mistakes but also in changing one's actions. The sessions also highlighted that leadership is rooted in genuine concern for others and requires adapting to different situations and the needs of the communities they serve.
Romar Chuca facilitated the workshop's third-day session, "Refusing No Talent: The Qualities and Skills of an Ignatian Leader and Developing Competence and Commitment." Spanning the entire day, the session stood out for its interactive and entertaining approach, blending storytelling, reflection, and audience participation. Participants enthusiastically sang along as Sir Chuca joined them by playing the piano, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere that inspired everyone to recognize their unique talents and embrace their potential as Ignatian leaders.

The day concluded with the much-awaited Socials Night, a fun and engaging networking event that strengthened the bonds formed throughout the workshop. The evening fostered camaraderie and meaningful connections among participants from different organizations. The TACTICS delegates remained with their assigned teams throughout the workshop, with Naz joining Team UBE, Sibulo joining Team Green Flags, and Salvino joining Team The Law is D'law. Later that evening, Team UBE was hailed as the champion of the Socials Night, making the celebration even more memorable for the organization.
On the fourth and final day of the workshop, various student support offices and formation programs of Ateneo de Naga University were introduced in their featured sessions. Representatives from the Foundation and Student Support Offices, together with Judith B. Vergel de Dios, Chairperson of the CIFP and NSTP Departments, discussed the services, programs, and opportunities available to students. The workshop concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration, where participants received a special blessing from the presiding priest for their future endeavors as student leaders and members of their respective organizations.

The 18th A-WILL served as a meaningful opportunity for the TACTICS delegates to grow as leaders, build lasting connections, and deepen their commitment to service. Carrying the lessons and experiences gained throughout the four-day workshop, they return ready to embody Ignatian leadership in serving the organization and the community.
