DCS Students Hosmillo, Nuiz Join ADNU Choir in Victory at Bicol Regional Chorale Competition

Department of Computer Science (DCS) students Shandy Mark Hosmillo (2nd Year, BS Information Technology) and Tyler Jay Nuiz (1st Year, BS Information Technology) were among the performers who led the Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU) Choir to victory at the San Jose - Partido Bicol Regional Chorale Competition on February 20, 2026.
Competing against six other choirs under the theme “HARANA: Tingog nin Kultura, Nagpapadagos sa Musika,” the ADNU Choir clinched the championship title and brought home the ₱30,000 grand prize. The group impressed judges with their renditions of “Si Nanay, Si Tatay” by Ruben Federizon and “Pamugun” by Francisco Feliciano.
The competition gathered choral groups from across the region in a celebration of music rooted in local tradition. ADNU’s disciplined delivery, vocal blend, and emotional depth set them apart from the other contenders.
The choir is currently under the direction of Mr. Rex Buenaflor Alba, whose leadership guided the ensemble through its preparation and performance. The group also expressed gratitude to its supporters, including the Caceres Chorale, for their assistance during the event.
For the TACTICS community, this win reflects not only academic excellence but also the diverse talents of its students—proving that future IT professionals can shine just as brightly on the concert stage.
