DCS alumni win first place at DOST-Bicol RSTW Hack4Dev Sprint

Four alumni of Ateneo de Naga University’s Department of Computer Science (DCS) brought pride to the university after winning first place in the Hack4Dev Sprint – Technology Category during the DOST-Bicol 2025 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW), held on August 13–15, 2025, in Legazpi City, Albay.
The winning team—Martin Edgar Atole, Albert Elezer Perez, Justin Ira Natividad, and Jiankarlo Belarmino—was mentored by Kevin G. Vega, faculty member of DCS.
Their project, HARIBON: Hazard Assessment and Rescue Integration for Bicol Operations Network, is a Multi-Objective Decision Support System for Efficient Relief Distribution Using Multi-Modal Transport Networks. It aims to improve the speed, efficiency, and coordination of relief distribution in disaster-stricken areas, leveraging advanced technology to address logistical challenges in emergency response.
By integrating hazard assessment, resource allocation, and multi-modal transport planning, HARIBON offers a data-driven approach to disaster management—helping communities respond more effectively during times of crisis. The innovation has been lauded as a potential life-saving tool for the Bicol region, which is often affected by typhoons, floods, and volcanic activity.
With this achievement, team HARIBON have once again proven that Atenean ingenuity—powered by technology and compassion—can create solutions that save potentially lives.
